Welcome to the Parish Council website for the Cheshire village of Gawsworth. Gawsworth is a charming village on the eastern edge of the Cheshire Plain, with a population of 1,705. Just 3 miles from Macclesfield, the village has one of Cheshire’s most beautiful historic manor houses – Gawsworth Old Hall. Gawsworth has a range of village amenities, including two churches, a village pub, scout hall, village hall, park and community shop. The small woodland, Maggoty Wood, is the resting place of “Lord Flame” (Samuel ‘Maggoty’ Johnson), the last professional Jester in England.
Gawsworth Parish Council decided that it needed a dedicated Parish Council website, to replace the existing site hosted by Cheshire East. This new website was launched in August 2013 and is the new face of the Parish Council online.
You can find future meeting dates, minutes and agendas, as well as contact information for Parish Councillors and the Clerk. There are also some fantastic photographs of Gawsworth both from today and yesteryear. If you have any comments on the website, or ideas for improvement please contact the Clerk.
