Welcome to Gawsworth!

Welcome to the Parish Council website for the Cheshire village of Gawsworth. Gawsworth is a charming village on the eastern edge of the Cheshire Plain, with a population of 1,705. Just 3 miles from Macclesfield, the village has one of Cheshire’s most beautiful historic manor houses – Gawsworth Old Hall. Gawsworth has a range of village amenities, including two churches, a village pub, scout hall, village hall, park and community shop. The small woodland, Maggoty Wood, is the resting place of “Lord Flame” (Samuel ‘Maggoty’ Johnson), the last professional Jester in England.

Gawsworth Gazette

The Gawsworth Gazette was launched in September 2018 to provide a new source of local news and information across the parish.  If you have anything to contribute, or would like to receive it by email each month, please email clerk@gawsworthpc.org.uk.
