Welcome to the Parish Council website for the Cheshire village of Gawsworth. Gawsworth is a charming village on the eastern edge of the Cheshire Plain, with a population of 1,705. Just 3 miles from Macclesfield, the village has one of Cheshire’s most beautiful historic manor houses – Gawsworth Old Hall. Gawsworth has a range of village amenities, including two churches, a village pub, scout hall, village hall, park and community shop. The small woodland, Maggoty Wood, is the resting place of “Lord Flame” (Samuel ‘Maggoty’ Johnson), the last professional Jester in England.
Would you be willing to give some time to clear undergrowth within Gawsworth Park?
The boundary around the park has grown so dense, that in the summer, it is impenetrable in places. We are looking for volunteers, however much time you feel you can offer, between 1.00pm and 3.30pm on Saturday the 29th of November.
Our Village Hall was a second hand hut when purchased some sixty years ago. The Parish Council believes that the time has come to investigate the options for improving the village hall facility for all users;
tackling problems such as the lack of storage space and poor heating. This survey is the first stage in consultation and engagement with residents. By completing this survey you are helping the Parish Council understand the views of residents.
